Meet Criterium-Farrell Engineers' Team
Pat Farrell, P.E., RS, CBIE is the President and Owner of Criterium-Farrell Engineers. With over 36 years of engineering experience, Pat’s expertise is in the inspection, evaluation and analysis of commercial and residential buildings. As a licensed Professional Engineer, he has personally inspected thousands of commercial and residential buildings, often during the pre-purchase process for his clients. His experience ranges from regional shopping malls, 300+ unit apartment complexes and high-rise office buildings to single-family homes and condominiums of every size and at every stage of construction. He has completed hundreds of Property Condition Assessments (PCAs), Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), and Reserve Studies for a wide variety of properties located throughout the United States
Pat’s background includes in-depth experience in project, construction and site management, engineering design, feasibility studies, maintenance planning, building and central plant operations, and management and remediation of hazardous materials such as asbestos, hydrocarbons and lead dust. His engineering experience includes: Site Facilities Manager at the world headquarters of Compaq Computer Corporation, a world class Fortune 50 high tech company; and facilities management at Lockheed Missiles & Space Company, Dow Chemical USA, and Abbott Labs.
He is certified by the Texas Real Estate Construction Commission (TRCC) to perform structural inspections for dispute resolution and is designated as a Reserve Specialist (RS) by the Community Associations Institute (CAI). He is also designated a Board Certified Building Inspection Engineer (CBIE) by the National Academy of Inspection Engineers (NABIE). Pat is on the Standard of Care Committee and the Structural Committee for the Foundation Performance Association.
He is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE), Houston Association of Real Estate Inspectors (HAREI) and the National Academy of Building Inspection Engineers (NABIE).
Pat is also distinguished as an expert in the field of investigative engineering and testifies in court as an expert witness. He has also been called upon to arbitrate disputes arising between homeowners and builders.
Pat is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas (1981) and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Texas - Cockrell School of Engineering (Hook-em Horns!), as well as being a graduate of Rice University’s Advanced Management Institute (1997).
Jerry Buri, P.E. is a Civil Engineer and a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas and has been with Criterium-Farrell Engineers for almost ten years. With over 40 years of engineering experience, Jerry has an extensive background in property acquisition, building construction, facilities management, operation and maintenance, as well as building inspection services. He is responsible for performing residential full home and structural/foundation inspections and commercial building inspections. Jerry has completed hundreds of inspections of buildings ranging from single-family homes and multi-family complexes to commercial office buildings and retail shopping centers. Jerry was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from South Dakota State University.
John Mulvahill, P.E. is a Structural Engineer and licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. Awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University, he has over 26 years of experience in Civil Engineering analysis, design and construction. John is responsible for performing commercial and residential building evaluations, structural evaluations, and, engineering and design. He has performed inspections of buildings ranging from single family homes to townhome buildings. John also performs Reserve Studies for townhomes, condominiums and single family homeowner associations.
John’s background in structural engineering and design of steel, concrete and wood framed buildings enables us to provide our clients with comprehensive structural inspections and evaluations. John has also completed Engineering Management graduate studies at the University of Houston. He is a member of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE).
Tim Bentley P.E. is a Structural Engineer and a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. Tim brings over 15 years of structural engineering experience to the Criterium-Farrell Engineering team. Tim joined Criterium-Farrell Engineers in 2004. His specialties include: restoration construction management, waterproofing for all types of commercial and residential buildings, Property Condition Assessments (PCA) and Phase One Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), Reserve Studies for community associations, and residential full home and structural home inspections for homeowners, buyers and investors.
Tim’s expertise in evaluating the effectiveness of waterproofing elements in new construction, renovations, and/or repairs designs is invaluable given Houston’s unpredictable and often damaging weather conditions. His thorough review of flashing details, joint sealant specifications and various above and below-grade waterproofing materials for suitability of application and completeness uncovers many waterproofing details that have been overlooked or improperly designed. His experience and expertise often results in effective and cost-efficient solutions for our clients.
Tim received a Bachelor of Science degree in Structural Engineering Technology from the University of Houston and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Kennesaw State University.
Dana Lynn is our Office Manager. Dana has an extensive background in Administrative Management and is AutoCAD certified. She first became affiliated with Criterium-Farrell Engineers in 2003.
Dana keeps our company running smoothly with the day-to-day management of the business, including accounting and bookkeeping functions. She is our key point of contact for clients and realtors.
Her responsibilities include scheduling and coordinating appointments, generating the engineer's reports for our clients, field support to the engineers and providing overall outstanding customer service.
Claudia Ochoa is our Administrative Assistant and right-hand to our Office Manager Dana. Claudia’s previous experience includes various administrative support responsibilities for a construction/drywall company and a post-tension cable foundation company.
Claudia’s primary responsibilities include preparing the engineer’s reports, photos and sketches, as well as assisting Dana with scheduling client appointments.
Together, Dana and Claudia provide the critical field support and customer service that contributes to Criterium-Farrell Engineers' consistent high level of service to our clients.
Susan Farrell, MS, is responsible for our marketing and customer relations efforts. Susan brings her background in information technology to the management of our website, as well as her experience as a Senior Systems Analyst and Data Analyst in optimizing our office processes to deliver exceptional customer service to our clients.
Susan’s experience in the pharmaceutical industry developing new product markets and working on multi-million dollar product launches contributes to developing our customer service initiatives. Susan’s degrees include a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from East Stroudsburg State College and Master of Science in Informatics from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
